Barack Obama Becomes President, Pro-Life Advocates Predict More Abortions

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) — As Barack Obama becomes president and national policy turns 180 degrees on abortion, leading pro-life advocates are saddened by the increase in abortions they expect under his presidency. The increase won’t happen entirely on American soil as money heads out tomorrow for foreign abortions.Gary Bauer, the head of the pro-life group American Values says it won’t take 24 hours for Obama to expose how is mantra of change and claims of wanting to reduce abortions is corrupt.
“The fact is that before this week is over, President Obama will start making decisions, and those decisions will expose his rhetoric about uniting us for what it is,” he said.
“Top officials have told us that within hours of taking office, President Obama will reverse Bush executive orders and force all of us to pay for abortions not only in the U.S., but around the world,” Bauer told LifeNews.com in an email. “Those of us who believe in the dignity, value and worth of every human life from the womb to natural death will not be silenced.”
“Soon the new president will start nominating federal judges. He has made it clear they will be leftist judges [who will be] pro-abortion,” Bauer continued.
Despite the sad news, Bauer says pro-life advocates need to organize and re-energize for the battles ahead.
“I know many of you are feeling down and depressed. Snap out of it,” he said. “Thank God we live in a free country. Join the debate. Take your stand. The days ahead will be challenging, but our values are worth fighting for.”
Mathew Staver, the founder of the pro-life Liberty Counsel law firm, also weighed in on the coming Obama administration.
“Obama’s inauguration is sandwiched between two other important days in American history: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and the 36th Anniversary of the Supreme Court’s abortion decision in Roe v. Wade,” he said. “As this Nation celebrates its progress made in regard to racial equality, the struggle to protect innocent human life just became more intense.”
He said Obama appears to be ignoring his concept of unity by making people pay for the destruction of human life.
“Obama has indicated that he will allow federal dollars to fund abortion and embryonic stem cell research, thereby providing federal dollars to create and destroy human life. As a result, your tax dollars will be used to destroy innocent human life,” he said.
The new president has already compiled a pro-abortion record with his key appointments to top administration positions.
Obama is expected to expand on that by funding international abortions, funding the UNFPA, an agency complicit in the China forced abortion family program, and overturning President Bush’s protections for medical centers and staff.
Obama may also sign the Freedom of Choice Act — a radical bill that would make unlimited abortion throughout pregnancy the national law and overturn hundreds of pro-life state laws nationwide.

I live in Holland where abortion is legal. My wife and I heard in the last trimester of her pregnancy that the baby would be either severely handicapped or would not live. For us as believers in the sanctity of life it was no option for us to have the baby aborted and my wife gave birth to a son who lived 20 minutes.
It was a very difficult and painful time for us. The doctors never in anyway suggested that we have an abortion and told us they greatly respected our decision. We were told that should my wife feel she was unable to carry a child she knew would not live or be healthy that there was legal recourse. Nonetheless we followed our conviction and have peace with it.
We watch how americans struggle to legislate something that we believe to be out of the purview of the legal system. This is a very personal moral decision you cannot legislate. I agree abortion is wrong but I still believe that legislation would take the responsibility out of the hands of parents and into the hands of the courts. This can never be good.
If I was faced with the horrendous decision to choose between the life of my wife and the life of the unborn baby I would have to choose life for my wife. The other children and the unborn need their mother. I would never want the law to decide that for me.
Now considering people in different situations and those who might think more lightly about this: You’re much better to educate and communicate with mothers who would consider an abortion because a child does not suit their lifestyle. Showing options such as adoption and making clear the emotional and moral damage an abortion will cause. By legislating abortion as illegal it may save some unwanted children but by criminalizing it you may drive some mothers into illegal action and horribly aggravate the emotional and moral damage to the mom while the child does not survive. If you’re really sincere about helping you could even spend some of the huge amounts of money you spend to fight this issue from the political side to help those moms through their pregnancies and adjust to a new life.
When you politicize and take the responsibility away from parents and clinics to communicate better options you place it on the shoulders of the courts and politicians. Do you really want that?
In your blog you paint a poor picture of Obama who isn’t looking to ‘spend tax dollars to destroy innocent human life’. But you say he does just that. With that statement you demonize and supercharge an already over-emotional debate. If you argue against abortion for moral reasons how do you justify the immoral act of disrespecting your God appointed leader (those are the bibles words, not mine) to win your argument?
I uphold the sanctity of life. I just don’t think this one is up to the courts. It won’t get you the result you want. if you want more babies to live, look for more effective ways to bring the unwanted to loving homes who want them. There are plenty of them.

Well first of all I didn’t write the article but I agree 100% with it and it didn’t took long for him to prove us right as he has already overturn a ban on state funding for family-planning groups that carry out or facilitate abortions overseas. And do you know where that money is coming from? This man even dare to call himself a christian then says that this nation is no longer one nation under God. He needs to read his Bible if he is one especially Jeremiah 1:5 that will be a good start.
